Overview
Ito is more than a seaside resort — it’s where global history and local culture meet. At William Adams Memorial Park and Ito Harbor, you’ll stand where Miura Anjin built Japan’s first Western-style ships in 1604. Walking along the Matsukawa River Promenade, you’ll trace the steps of Minamoto Yoritomo, the exiled youth who became Japan’s first shogun.
This tour is about more than stories — it’s about the blending of fact and fiction, from James Clavell’s SHOGUN to the lives of samurai and townspeople who shaped Izu. You’ll also see Taisho-era architecture like the Tokaikan, once a luxury ryokan, and enjoy the atmosphere of a hot springs town still proud of its heritage.
If you’d like to go deeper, consider the Full Day Private Tour, where Ito’s samurai past can be paired with Izu’s natural landscapes and hidden villages.
