Overview

The Private Full Day Izu Peninsula Tour is our signature tour and the choice of most guests. Izu is known as a place to unplug and rejuvenate. With a full day together, we can slow down and enjoy both Izu’s dramatic coastline and its peaceful mountain villages without feeling rushed.

Every itinerary is tailored. Some guests want more time in nature — waterfalls, sea cliffs, or forest walks. Others are curious about local food, temples, shrines, or daily life. You tell us what matters most, and we’ll create a plan together.

To make the day more relaxed, we usually stay within one area of Izu rather than driving all over the peninsula. That way, you’ll have time to breathe the sea air, taste seasonal foods, or listen to the forest — the kind of moments that make Izu unforgettable.

  • A tour designed around your interests (nature, culture, food, or history)

  • The unhurried pace of slow travel — less rushing, more experiencing

Planning Your Itinerary & Accommodations

Thank you for your interest in exploring the Izu Peninsula!
This is one of the most unique places in Japan – known for its scenery, history, and culture.

DRIVING DISTANCES

While Izu looks compact on a map, curvy, single lane mountain roads can make the distances between scenic areas quite long, and travel times can add up quickly.

For example, if you are staying in Atami or Mishima, it’s very convenient for the Shinkansen: easy access to Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto. However, when sightseeing around Izu itself, you may find that you spend more time in the car than at the places you want to see. A full-day tour can involve several hours of driving, plus time for meals, which reduces the hours available for actual sightseeing.

The most efficient way to experience Izu is to stay near the areas you want to explore. This reduces travel time and allows you to spend more of your day enjoying local sights rather than sitting in a car. For the northern parts of Izu, areas such as Shuzenji or Izu Kogen make good bases. If you’d like to visit the southern or western side, Shimoda, Matsuzaki, and Toi will save you lots of time.

Trying to plan a one-day trip that covers multiple places around the peninsula is not a good idea, as you’ll have little time to get out of the car and enjoy the places you visit.

COST CONSIDERATIONS

From a cost perspective, staying in or near Izu Kogen is also more economical for my tours, since this is where I am based. Tours that begin further away require additional travel time and expenses, while starting from Izu Kogen helps you save both time and money.

I’m happy to help suggest base locations depending on your interests, whether that’s hot springs, coastal scenery, mountain trails, or cultural history. That way, you can enjoy Izu at a comfortable pace without feeling rushed.
